The Nike sneakers from Kevin Durant’s signature line have always been designed in way that they tend to have a deeply personal theme related to some facet of KD’s life. The latest colorway of Kevin Durant’s eighth signature model is no different. Moreover, it is also the first and most scrumptious-looking Nike sneaker of this year so far, considering that it is themed after the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. For this very reason the colorway has even been dubbed “PB&J” and since its Jordan release 2016 has already taken place, sneakerheads will not have to wait in order to grab a pair.
As mentioned, it is not unusual Kevin Durant’s signature sneakers to have been influenced and inspired by some aspect of his life, whether it is his childhood or his personality. Back when Kevin was still a kid in Maryland, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches used to be his favorite snack and this is not the first time a KD sneaker has been dressed up in a color scheme that draws inspiration from Kevin Durant’s favorite childhood snack. It was back in 2013, when Nike had first introduced a “PB&J” rendition of the KD 6.
The colors and prints that are featured by this Nike KD 8 iteration are all somewhat related to the mouth-watering, tasty sandwich. Primarily, the Flyweave upper of this sneaker is milky White, representing slices of bread. The toe box is dressed up in the hue of grape jelly, while the same hue makes an appearance over the inner lining, Nike Swoosh and tongue. Last but not least, this sneaker is also equipped with Gum rubber Zoom outsoles, which represent the peanut butter, completing the peanut butter and jelly theme of this latest KD 8 colorway.
Whether or not they themselves are fans of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or not, sneakerheads will agree that this Nike KD 8 “PB&J” is dope enough to cop. Hence, they will not have to wait since its Nike release 2016 has already taken place on March 4th.
