No one really knows what “NMD” stands for, but what we do know is that it enabled adidas to further bridge the gap between athletics and lifestyle. Despite its lifestyle appearance, the NMD or NMD R1 continues to stand out as one of the most popular running shoes from adidas. Featuring a combination of neoprene or Primeknit mesh and Boost cushioning, its design was inspired by the Boston Super, Micro Pacer and Rising Star. The above women’s colorways recently arrived at Finish Line and retailed for $130. Between summer turning into fall, it seems that two other brand new colorways of the adidas NMD R1 will hit the shelves.
This Month’s Colorway
Although the popularity of the NMD line has risen, adidas seems to have taken an interest in experimenting with the model. The NMD Racer and TS1 variations, as well as the colorway you see above, are a testament to that. Dressed up primarily in sleek Black with a splash of Mint Green, the unique pattern you see over its Primeknit uppers is a result of marble dying. The “Three Stripes” seem to be absent from the midfoot side panels, but adidas branding can be spotted on front EVA plug. This marble-dyed NMD R1 iteration will make its retail debut directly on adidas.com at a price of $170.
This Upcoming Colorway
It does not seem that adidas is going to be slowing down with their NMD R1 releases any time soon. Several are already lined up, including the one you see above. This somewhat tonal iteration is almost entirely covered in sleek Black, including tonal “Three Stripes” on the sides that are kind of camouflaged. This could be regarded as an all-Black iteration if it was not for the contrasting Red-colored rear EVA plug. Even its Boost midsoles and outsoles are completely sleek Black. This NMD R1 colorway will also be making its retail debut online on adidas.com somewhere in September 2018 at a price of $130.
