It is about time that a “Metallic” colorway of the Air Jordan 1 High makes a comeback in OG form, even if it is just one of the original ones, in particular the “Metallic Navy” iteration. This Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG joins a long list of returning Air Jordan renditions that are set to bear the Nike Air branding like back in the days. It all started with the Air Jordan 4 OG ’89 “White/Cement” and now sneakers like the Air Jordan 3 “True Blue,” Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam” and the Air Jordan 17+ “Copper” will be featuring the Nike Air logo upon their return.
The year 2009 had actually marked the comeback of several of the original Air Jordan 1 High “Metallic” colorways. However, for some reason Jordan Brand had decided not to release the Air Jordan 1 High “Metallic Navy” at that time. Perhaps that is why they are finally bringing back this particular OG “Metallic” iteration of the Air Jordan 1 High complete with Nike Air branding as a part of their Retro Remaster initiative. Even though the sneaker has already been unveiled, Instagram user @zsneakerheadz has shared an “on-hand” photo of it that provides a much better and clearer look.
After looking at this photo, Jordanheads likely notice and realize that the metallic navy accents featured on this sneaker do not take away from its clean, simple and subtle aesthetics. Predominantly, the leather uppers of this sneaker are clean and plain white, which means that precisely like the OG version, there is a total absence of any sort of color blocking. Of course, the branding, collars, inner linings, Nike Swooshes and outsoles are accentuated by the lustrous metallic navy hue. Last but not least, white also covers the laces and midsoles.
Considering that this sneaker is finally returning, hopefully Jordanheads can continue waiting for over a month or so more. Based on reports, this Air Jordan 1 High OG “Metallic Navy” will be retailing for $160 on June 4th.
