Sneakerheads are likely well-aware by now that 2017 is scheduled to be quite a monumental year for the two Nike Air Foamposite versions. It makes perfect sense considering the fact that next year marks the 20th anniversary of the Foamposite One and Foamposite Pro. A GS-sized Foamposite One, being referred to as the “Little Posite,” also arrived at retailers on October 15th in a “Halloween” colorway. On October 20th, the Air Foamposite One “Maroon” also made its retail debut and was available in prices ranging from $230 to $50. Among the many Foamposite releases of 2016, Nike will also drop an Air Foamposite Pro “Metallic Silver.”
It has also become common knowledge within the sneaker community that 2017 is also set to mark the return of three iconic, original colorways of the Nike Air Foamposite One. Obviously, the colorways are the “Copper,” “Eggplant” and the “Royal,” all three of which are from 1997. Back in September of this year, a brand new, special iteration of the Air Foamposite One was also unveiled, which Nike has obviously designed to commemorate the silhouette’s 20th anniversary. Nicknamed the Foamposite One “XX,” i.e. 20, the rendition has uppers dressed up in glossy Black with matching translucent Black-colored soles.
Plenty of sneakerheads are probably also waiting for the comeback of the Air Foamposite Pro “Dr. Doom” from 2006. Sneakerheads who happen to be fans of the Marvel Universe likely also know that the Silver Surfer has somewhat of a connection with the Fantastic Four and their arch nemesis, Doctor Doom. Sneakerer (@sneakerer) was the one who shared the photo of this Air Foamposite Pro “Metallic Silver” on Instagram and as can be seen, it is really worthy of being referred to as a Silver Surfer-inspired colorway. However, this may or may not be the case with this sneaker, which has predominantly Metallic Silver-colored uppers with Black detailing throughout.
It remains to be known if this brand new colorway is related to the Foamposite Pro “Dr. Doom” and is perhaps indeed dubbed “Silver Surfer.” Regardless, it is being reported that Nike will end up dropping this Air Foamposite Pro “Metallic Silver” in 2017.
