This Air Huarache Utility Sports A Color Scheme Inspired By The Nike Mowabb

The Nike ACG sneakerboot line has quite a rich history. It was back in the early 1980s, when Nike was releasing colorways of models like Approach, Lava Dome and Magma, that the basic foundation for the Nike ACG range had been laid. Nike had officially announcedthe ACG concept back in 1989. With the ACG, Nike introduced a silhouette that was designed to be worn in the great outdoors but was still targeting sports performance. Nike used rugged materials for the ACG releases, which came in nature- and outdoor-themed colorways. The latest colorway of the Air Huarache Utility that Nike has revealed seems to borrowing from past ACG color palettes.

nike-air-huarache-utility-2Even though Nike’s ACG releases looked aggressive, they were always extremely comfortable. An ACG model worth mentioning would perhaps be the Mowabb, which was designed to have neoprene sock linings and be remarkably ventilated. Back it then and even today, it makes sense why the ACG releases became so successful. They were shoes that could be worn while hiking and rock climbing, so they were definitely rugged enough to last on the streets. Interestingly enough, just about every ACG release that still exists today has aged rather well. Lava Dome and Wildwood releases from back in the days look like Nike just dropped them recently.

The Air Huarache Utility is obviously not a part of Nike’s ACG range, so it is somewhat unusual that this innovative variation of the Huarache model is drawing inspiration from classic ACG silhouettes like the Air Mowabb. This Air Huarache Utility iteration actually resembles the the classic OG Brown and Purple colorway of the Air Mowabb from back in the 1990s. This Air Huarache Utility rendition is also dressed up in a combination of Black, Brown and Purple, while its tongues feature vertical reflective stripes running down them.

nike-air-huarache-utility-3For sneakerheads who loved the color schemes from the Nike ACG range, but would rather not lace up in a sneakerbook, this sneaker is an ideal alternative. However, they will have to wait a little longer until Nike announced when this Mowabb-inspired Air Huarache Utility will be available at Nike.com and select retailers.
