Back in 2008, plenty of sneakerheads were eagerly attempting to get their hands on as many of the Countdown Packs from Jordan Brand as they possibly could. Popular sneakers from the many Countdown Packs that Jordan Brand has dropped include Air Jordan 3 “Black/Cement,” Air Jordan 11 “Bred,” Air Jordan 12 “Taxi” and the Air Jordan 15 colorway from 2008’s Countdown Pack. Back in 2014, all these sneakers and the rest from Jordan Brand’s eleven Countdown Packs had surfaced on eBay. After being auctioned amongst those sneakers, the Air Jordan 15 recently received the “Kubo” treatment, and in 2017, it is set to make a full-fledged comeback.
As a part of 2008’s monthly Countdown Packs, the Air Jordan 15 arrived at retailers, included in November 2008’s Pack, alongside the Air Jordan 8. Jordan Brand had decided to drop these Countdown Packs in celebration of its 23rd Anniversary and the concept behind them was to include numbered models that would add up to “23.” The Air Jordan 8 colorway that had been included had been the OG “White/Black-True Red” that had made its retail debut in 1993 and had received the retro treatment back in 2003. The Air Jordan 15 iteration had been a brand new one, which had been whipped up for the pack.
However, unlike the Air Jordan 15 from 2008’s Countdown Pack, most of the colorways of the model scheduled to arrive next year are originals, such as the “Obsidian” one featured here. Jordan Brand had originally dropped the Air Jordan 15 “Obsidian” back in 2000 and it had retailed at a price of $150. Like the original, next year’s version will also be feature uppers made up of a combination of plain leather and woven leather, predominantly dressed up in Obsidian. This sleek-looking sneaker will also include seemingly sharp, clean White-colored inner sleeves. Furthermore, its heel counters will consist of Kevlar mesh and there will be Blue-colored stripes running down the heels.
Of course, this is not the only Air Jordan 15 OG iteration that sneakerheads will get the opportunity to cop next year. However, the returning “Obsidian” colorway will apparently be a part of the Spring Jordan releases 2017.
