The brand new Air Jordan 31 colorway featured here ended up hitting the shelves at Foot Locker in NYC along with the unexpected release of the Air Jordan 1 “Banned” & “Black Toe.” After sneakerheads had already begun copping pairs, it became widely known that this colorway is inspired by the Air Jordan 1 OG “Chicago” and is also nicknamed the same. Nike claims that this Air Jordan 31 colorway is a reflection of the city that became Michael Jordan’s second home ever since he had started playing for the Chicago Bulls. It turns out that this sneaker will return among 2016’s upcoming Jordan releases.
In the draft, Michael Jordan had been selected third and so this lead him to believe that he would have to demonstrate and verify his worth to the team. It was at the Lincolnwood, Illinois-based Purple Hotel that the training camp had taken place and from the moment of his arrival there, Michael had known that he belonged there. Michael Jordan had accepted the challenge of becoming the hero and winner that the city of Chicago had been seeking. As a result of Michael’s rebellious nature and unparalleled performance on the court, the city and the Bulls managed to leave their mark in the history of the sport.
Upon his arrival in the NBA, Michael Jordan had even mingled and bonded with the Bulls’ members that used to practice at Chicago’s 18th and State courts. Prior to each of his games, he would even give away several pairs of tickets to the children. Those kids would wait in the streets outside for Michael Jordan to pass by, so that they would end up being the lucky ones to receive a ticket and watch him perform live. The Air Jordan 31 “Chicago” already arrived at the 112 W 34th Street location of Foot Locker in NYC, but only locals managed to cop a pair. A much wide release of this sneaker is now scheduled to take place on November 5th and it will retail for $185.
