While he did not cop any of the recent Air Jordan releases 2019, Kemba Walker grabbed several kicks on the recent “Sneaker Shopping” episode. In case you don’t already know, Sneaker Shopping is Complex’s hit miniseries that was initially, episodically released on Complex.com and YouTube. While you can still watch the series there, it now also airs on television ever since Complex Networks partnered with MSG Networks. Currently, every new episode of “Sneaker Shopping” airs as a part of the network’s “MSG Shorts” programming. The series literally revolves around Complex’s Joe La Puma taking various artists and athletes for some sneaker shopping at leading sneaker retailers around the U.S.
Joe La Puma is Complex’s current Vice President of Content Strategy. The latest athlete to appear on the series was Kemba Walker, the point guard of the Charlotte Hornets. Together, they visited they visited the Social Status store 1519 Central Avenue in Charlotte, North Carolina during the 2019 NBA All-Star Weekend. During his interview and sneaker shopping spree, he spoke up about the influence his upbringing in the Bronx borough of New York has had over his style. In addition to being an avid sneakerhead, Kemba is also a member of the Jordan Brand family, which he also discussed during the episode.
While the episode did not feature any latest or upcoming Air Jordan releases 2019, Kemba missed no opportunity to express his love of sneakers. He revealed that the Air Jordan 12 “Cherry” is his “all-time favorite shoe” and that he rocked a pair during a game that took place in Maui during his junior season. Apparently that is when it became his favorite shoe. He also praised the Nike Air Force 1 and pointed out other favorites like the Air Jordan 11 “Cool Grey.” The kicks he ended up copping included the Air Jordan 2 “BHM,” Rokit x Nike Kyrie 5 and Social Status x Air Jordan VI.
