The Nike release 2016 of the Foamposite “Mirror Blue” or “University Blue” took place on February 5, a little over a month after the sneaker was previewed on the last day of December 2015. If it was not for the lighter blue shade, the sneaker would have easily been mistaken for the Foamposite OG “Royal.” However, just a few days after it was previewed, another Foamposite Pro colorway was unveiled that sports a similar matte finish but this time dressed up in “University Red.” Much like the “Mirror/University Blue,” this iteration will turn out to be an instant hit despite not being an O.G.
It was during the first week of January when the Nike Air Foamposite Pro “University Red” was first previewed. If sneakerheads feel that this sneaker looks familiar, it is probably due to its resemblance to the Foamposite Pro “Varsity Red” that had made its retail debut back in 2002. However, this year’s version is dressed up in a shade of Red that is far too metallic than that of “Varsity Red” one. This upcoming “University Red” edition also appears to somewhat look like the Foamposite One “Metallic Red” that had arrived at retailers back in 2012.
Now, even on-feet photos of the Air Foamposite Pro seem to have surfaced. It can now be clearly seen that its upper is predominantly dressed up in University Red, while the lace stays, Nike Swoosh and outsole are all covered in Black. Moreover, the outsole appears to be made up of a glossy, lustrous material and unlike 2002’s “Varsity Red” colorway, it does not sport a matte finish nor can any traces of Red be spotted on the outsole.
Fortunately, while an exact date for the Nike release 2016 of the Air Foamposite Pro “University Red” remains unknown, rumors suggest that it will hit the shelves in April. Moreover, it is also being rumored that the price at which this sneaker will retail is going to be $230.
